Press release

Marilyn Monroe does not touch me as a film star, but a symbol for a woman between admiration and the pressure of expectations.

Her body was constantly commented on and evaluated. She was admired – but rarely perceived as a whole personality. This tension between outer splendor and inner vulnerability is of particular interest to me. Not the blonde icon, but the crack under the make-up.

Even today, many women experience that their appearance is judged publicly – especially on social media. In this sense, Marilyn's story is surprisingly topical.

My abstract works are therefore not about her portrait, but about layers and structures. About what lies beneath a shiny surface. In a series of six images with typographical statements and a visual language of collage, rough cement with crevices, cracked marble dust with fake diamonds, objectification, the break between projection and inner vulnerability, and the price women pay when their bodies become commodities and their image becomes possessions, will be addressed.

On International Women's Day, I would like to create a space in which we think about self-determination, visibility and value, beyond external attributions.
